I just hope and pray that the economy turns around. Fortunately, I’m not selling my home, but I know how tough it is for my friends who are. Well, I know how tough it was. Thanks to some tips that I gave them, passed onto me by a really bright guy (more on that later) they are actually getting buyers interested in their homes at THEIR price. How? Well, a lot has to do with things that you might be doing wrong. I’m going to cover them here in this article.

At the top of the list is your realtor. I’m sorry to have to say this, but in a buyers market, your realtor is NOT your best friend. They have too many houses that they can’t sell and once yours gets passed the 30 day doomsday marker, you’re toast. You are NOT going to get the attention from them that you deserve. They’re going to be out looking for fresh listings. That’s just the way it is. So, you need to not depend so much on your realtor. You need to take matters into your own hands. How?

For starters, put out your own ads, and not those desperate “Please buy my house” ads that you’re realtor is probably already putting out there. You know the ones I’m talking about so there is no need for me to go into any detail. The buyer already knows that he has the upper hand. No need to make it painfully obvious to him. You need to deal from a position of strength, not weakness. And yes, you can do it. It’s all in the way you present your ad and yourself when showing the house.

That’s the next thing. Start showing off your house yourself. You don’t need your realtor to do this. I mean for crying out loud, who knows your home better than you do? Be proud of it. And when you do show it off, don’t walk around with your head hung low telling the prospect how tough things have been. Walk around with your head held high and tell the prospect that you’re sure this house is going to go fast.

Please, don’t let the buyers steal your home from you when you don’t have to let it happen.
